European Cybersecurity Capacity Building: Discussing the Oxford Study on Building Cybersecurity Capacity in Europe

We are delighted to invite you for a workshop on opportunities and challenges for European Cybersecurity Capacity Building. The discussion will feature a presentation on the recently published report by the Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre at the University of Oxford: "The Solution is in the Details: Building Cybersecurity Capacity in Europe". The authors reviewed how the 2020 European Union Cybersecurity Strategy could be implemented to ensure more effective cybersecurity capacity building both within the EU as well as abroad. Building forward on the findings, the study suggests a set of policy recommendations for the EU and its Member States.

To discuss the findings of this study, Microsoft is organising a hybrid workshop on the 19th of October at 14:00-15:30 CET. The discussion will be kicked off by a presentation of the research and its recommendations provided by Dr. Jamie Saunders, co-author of the study. After this presentation, stakeholders of the European cybersecurity capacity building ecosystem are invited to provide commentary and discuss the implications of the study.

Speakers will include:

  • Agnese Sollero, Policy Officer for Cybersecurity, Science, Technology, Innovation and Digitalisation, DG International Partnerships (INTPA)
  • David van Duren, Director, Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE)
  • Representative of the European External Action Service (EEAS)
  • Dr Jamie Saunders, Oxford Martin School Fellow and Technical Board Member, Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre, University of Oxford
