Kuwait Assesses Cybersecurity Capacity with CMM Review

In collaboration with the Abdullah Al-Salem University the GCSCC deployed the CMM in Kuwait in January 2025.

Dr Sorour Al-Otaibi, the university's Vice President for Scientific Research and Graduate Studies, emphasised that the CMM is designed to help countries and institutions identify strengths and weaknesses, analyse gaps, and provide recommendations for improving cybersecurity performance. He highlighted that the CMM results from successful cooperation between the governments of Kuwait and the United Kingdom, reflecting deep ties and a commitment to collaboration across various sectors.

Ghalia Al-Salahi, a representative of the National Cybersecurity Centre, noted that cybersecurity has become "a basic necessity" to protect digital infrastructure and ensure the sustainability of digital transformation in all sectors. She underlined the centre's efforts to serve as a platform for unifying national efforts and strengthening cooperation with leading international institutions like the GCSCC, which has extensive experience in this field.

GCSCC’s Prof Michael Goldsmith stressed the importance of specialised discussion sessions in cybersecurity to exchange knowledge and maintain levels of cybersecurity maturity through practical training. He called for active participation in skill development to achieve optimal results that advance societies.

The program's opening was attended by Stuart Summers, the Deputy Ambassador of the UK to Kuwait, and representatives from various governmental and private entities, underscoring the event's significance and the commitment to enhancing cybersecurity measures at both national and institutional levels.
